World of Warcraft character sold for $10,000, Sixth grader secures 6.5 millions funding for RMT business, EVE Online and LotRO start banning gold buyers.

World of Warcraft sets another new height, a night elf rogue character was sold for 7,000 EUR or almost 10,000 dollars. Reported by BBC, the character called Zuezo, a level 70 Rogue fully equipped with items like the legendary twin Warglaives of Azzinoth and other rare BOP (Binds on Pickup) items. According to Wowinsider, the character was transferred and renamed, Shaks. What's more: The character has not been online since 3 September and is rumored to have been banned by Blizzard.

Another success story - this time from a sixth grader! Via VERN, Karl Mehta, PlaySpan co-founder and CEO had received another round of 6.5 million USD venture capital. The company is developing a publisher-sponsored RMT platform for at least seven MMO games to date. This will allow game companies to capitalize on RMT deals.

On the other side, game publishers have started banning gold buyers. Razorwire suggested that other publishers should be punishing gold buyers by banning the buyer's accounts like CCP and Turbine already do for EVE Online and LotRO respectively. However, according to EVE Online economist the activities of gold farmers are not that significant to affect the ingame economy.

Offering another suggestion, PlayNoEvil recommends "spectacular and arbitrary punishments" of gold buyers. Rolling back the buyers' characters to before they made the purchase, the operators would publicly announce the ban and leave some sense of fear to the prospect buyers.
