EVE Online ISK is a MMORPG that is set in space. In this MMOGs, every single player exist in a single virtual universe. It was developed by CCP Games in 2003.
Gameplay in EVE Online ISK revolves around piloting customizable spaceships. These ships are based on various designs that are available and each ship is suited for particular tasks. You don't advance by gaining earned experience points. You advance your skills by training for a specific skill for a particular period of time. You don't even need to be logged in to do that.
There are many things that a player can do within the EVE ISK universe. You can get involved with research, combat, manufacturing, mining, trade, manufacturing, cargo hauling and other tasks.
Whereas NPCs sell simple goods, the rest of EVE Online ISK economy is driven by the players involved. During combat, the build of the spaceship are just as important as the abilities of the player.
While playing, players have the ability to attack any other players anywhere in the game. That being said, this freedom is countered by the fact each solar system has a security rating. The higher the rating, the safer the solar system is.
Players can form corporations (similar to clans). Corporations have CEO who has control over the corporation's assets. The CEO then assigns roles such as accountant, director and personnel manager. Even these Corporations may form alliances. These alliances and corporations come in different forms. Some of these player groups even write press releases highlighting new business openings and send out information to potential in-game investors. These alliances can control enough territory, their ownership will be plotted on the EVE ISK game map. The alliances based in lawless space form unofficial political power blocs with other groups. These groups are referred to as "coalitions".
Corporations can raise funds using several methods. They can get involved with manufacturing, mining or "ratting" (hunting NPC pirates for loot and bounty). Corporations also have the ability to levy income taxes on members or to skim off a percentage of the earnings of each member. Many corporations, however, offer benefits to their members. These benefits can include free or discount equipment, ships, group operations and formal training.
Corporations also have the ability to organize piracy. Piracy involves the breaking the in-game law. Pirates can camp outside of stargates and attack arriving players, attack ships operating in the asteroid belts or attack players as part of an NPC agent-assigned mission. Since these activities are "illegal", pirates usually have low security status. CONCORD (the games police) can even classify them as outlaws. Victims of piracy can attack without problems from CONCORD. These illegal actions only carry in game repercussions.
One way this can happen is that corporations and alliances can "war-dec" (officially declare war) on other alliances or corporations. Upon paying a weekly fee, any member of the involved alliances/corporations can attack
without the risk of inlvolving the CONCORD or lowering of the security status. The weekly fee is eliminated when some reciprocated the war declaration. A player's enemies will be clearly flagged, so there are no accidental attacks.
