Requiem Lant : Memento Mori is a darkly themed MMORPG which was created by GRAVITY. Originaly there was eight races which left only pictures and relics which are found in ruins located outside of Ethergia. Only four races have survived.
During a period of time called the Multi-Race Era, each race kept to themselves. Eventually the Humans and Demihumans went to war against each other.
The creatures of the night (called Nachs) believed themselves to be supprior and looked to dominate. The Turan and Xenoa fought back. The Demihumans dominated the start of the war. The Bartuk, who look more like humans than monsters, changed sides. This gave the Turan and Xenoa the advantage. The Eonay, who had been neutral, tapping the Science Mana in an attept to gain power.
The Nachs created the Kruxena by mixing themselves with some Bartuk. When the Natsu came into contact with the source of the Luahn Mana, they became locked in a dimensional gap. This left the Kruxena lost and scattered throughout the world Requiem Lant. Humans were able to get an easy victory by wiping out the Khun and Ohrg. They made peace with the remaining Bartuk. The Eonay were able to achieved ultimate prosperity and decided to travel beyond this dimension. They disappeared.
During the medieval Times, the Turan, Bartuk and Xenoa united and formed the Holy Xenon Empire. The Xenoa took the remains of the Eonay's Science Mana. The Turan and Bartuk fell under their domain and they had to serve "The God". The Kruxena had their own culture. When Humans became aware of them, some left to join up with them. Many different political parties within the HXE caused opened hostilities to occur.
The Radical Party (led by Antius III) gained control and declared that studying the science was actually paganism Requiem Lant. The Dark Era started. All magic which was inherited from both the Eonay and Nachs were now prohibited. The Turan and Bartuk were treated like infierior by The Xenoa. This led to a rebellion called Bloody Tuesday. The children of the Bartuk children were massacred in public.
The Kruxena decided to join into the so called Marze Wars to help the Bartuk. When the Xenoa faced destruction, they executed a backup plan ('Thanatos Project'). This involved using the forbidden materializing of both the Nachs' Luahn Mana and the Science Mana of the Eonays; Ethergia's continents were torn apart in the resulting explosion.
This brings us to the Modern Times Requiem Lant. The remaining Human eventually managed to pull everything together. They started to live on the Continent of Change. During the Segregation Era, these separated settlers created a City State that was called the Holy Xenon Empire. The use of unstable magic power caused a decline for this society as standard of living fell. Mutated creatures appeared in this damaged ecosystem. One of the factions gained control and tried to rebuilding the Order by fixing the wrongs made in the past.
Then the 'Ioxenic' appeared. They gave the blueprints to a power station which used Ion energy. This improved civilization and we enter the Prosperous Era. Another organization soon appeared.
The 'Guildenstein Merchant Guild' appared and made trade with other continents a possibility. Everyone in Ethergia was connected to each other again. The Ioxenic started to develop a 'Temperion' prototype. It was supplied to Thanatos in secret. The prototypes, were put in the Zudekha Continent in order to discover relics from the older races. An Ioxenic researcher named Ilkes found this secrets and Ioxenic's corruption was reveled. Requiem Lant all this history sets the background for the events you will experience.
